Athlete Development Summit

What is the Athlete Development Summit?

The Athlete Development Summit (ADS) was a concept first created by the NFLPA and hosted by the NFL in 2002. In conjunction with the NBA, it was expanded to include additional leagues and experts in the field of athlete development. Since then, the ADS has evolved into an annual conference attracting many of the leaders in athlete development from major sports organizations around the world. The ADS provides athlete development specialists with a forum for connecting with representatives of a wide variety of organizations in the profession and sharing best practices and ideas in the field of athlete development. Previous ADS conferences have also included a diverse array of speakers and topics. Among these speakers were David Stern, Commissioner of the NBA, Dr. Jim Loehr of the Human Performance Institute, Mike Whan, Commissioner of the LPGA, and many other high profile speakers from the fields of sport and athlete development.

As an Athletic Development Coordinator and Strength Coach, the PAADS Athlete Development Summit is great because it gives me access to different leadership skills, mentoring skills, and athlete development, aside from just the “sets and reps and weights,” which is my medium of work. It helps make me a more complete coach and mentor to my athletes, so I highly recommend it.

– Jim Malone, St. Louis Cardinals

The PAADS ADS is an absolute fantastic opportunity to connect internationally in a space that is true to my heart around athletic development and athlete “well-being,” as we call it in Australia. It’s wonderful to network with so many different organizations, professional sports universities, even the Olympic and Paralympics.

- Megan Fritsch, Australian Institute of Sport in Australia

I look forward to coming to ADS every year because of the opportunity to collaborate and share best practices with some of the greatest, most dedicated individuals who are improving athlete development. It’s one of the greatest things that I do throughout the year in terms of getting better at what I do.

- Rory Sparrow, Vice President of Player Development, NBA
